The town of Calne can claim to be the birthplace of the famous The Wiltshire Cure – a way of curing bacon and ham that has made it legendary!  Which is probably why the local Lardy Cake is so good! This local delicacy is made with lard, flour, sugar, spices and dried fruit and has to be tried and enjoyed at least once in your lifetime!

Wiltshire is also known as Cider Country.  A tribute to the many orchards across Wiltshire producing apples that are transformed into a crisp, refreshing cider that is instantly recognisable.

Stonehenge is probably the most famous and oldest place in Wiltshire. The stones have been a feature of Salisbury Plain for thousands of years, since they were placed here by our prehistoric ancestors.

The delightful villages of Lacock and Castle Combe are famous Wiltshire beauty spots. Many will be familiar with Lacock as it’s the well-known setting for many films and TV series including Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, Wolf Hall and Downton Abbey.  Castle Combe is said to be the prettiest village in England!

And of course, Salisbury Cathedral in the heart of the city, is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful buildings in Britain.  Home to one of the four copies of the original Magna Carta, it also boasts the highest church spire in the country.

Amesbury (/ˈeɪmzbəri/) is a town and civil parish in Wiltshire, England. It is known for the prehistoric monument of Stonehenge which is within the parish. The town is claimed to be the oldest occupied settlement in Great Britain, having been first settled around 8820 BC.

The number one highest valued town in all of Wiltshire is Marlborough. Set in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this market town was named the most expensive place to live in Wiltshire in 2021 by Savills property experts.

Sitting on the edge of the small Wiltshire village of Compton Bassett, 3 miles from the pretty town of Calne, 9 miles from Chippenham, is the substantial country home of former Take That boy band member and megastar Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field Williams.

The Ancient County. To the historically minded visitor Wiltshire is not so much a county but a treasure trove. One of England's largest counties, it's been inhabited for thousands of years. Its chalk downlands are home to world-famous prehistoric monuments like Stonehenge or the huge Stone Age city of Avebury.

The Great Bustard is an iconic bird for the county of Wiltshire. It has special status, appearing on the County Coat of Arms and on its crest. The image of the Great Bustard is found throughout the county in settings as diverse as the symbol of the High Sheriff and the badge of the Girl Guides.

Lacock Abbey was officially founded on 16 April 1232 by Ela, Countess of Salisbury, one of the most powerful women of the Middle Ages. She had previously served as Sheriff of Wiltshire and her 1225 copy of Magna Carta was kept at Lacock until 1946 when it moved to the British Museum.
